Cavenagh Bridge IS the oldest bridge in its original form. Originally known as the Edinburgh Bridge to commemorate the visit of the Duke of Edinburgh, its name was changed to Cavenagh Bridge in honour of Major General William Orfeur Cavenagh, the last India-appointed Governor of the Straits Settlements, who governed from 1859 to 1867. The coat of arms of the Cavenagh family can still be seen atop the signage at both ends of the bridge.

There...a short history lesson..thanks to Wikipedia!! lol...how fun to be tourist in our own country...did it before..had a span of 3 days when I went crazy touring Singapore...museums, Singapore Flyer and even the DUCKtour!! quack quack!

But I'm sure our foreign friends reading your blog will appreciate a little peek into our sunny little island..you might just inspire them to come visit you :) heh...
